Virtual Book & Author Series– Tightrope: Americans Reaching For Hope with the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center

Thursday, October 1, 2020 13 Tishrei 5781

6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Join the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center as Pulitzer Prize-winning authors, and husband and wife, Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn share a revealing and provocative portrait of working-class America as they discuss their 2020 New York Times bestselling book, Tightrope: Americans Reaching for Hope.

Kristof and WuDunn will reflect on the plight of many working-class families across America, from small towns to the inner city, who are plagued by unemployment, poverty, incarceration, and the devastating effects of addiction. While pockets of empathy and aid exist, are they sufficient? How did we get to this point? What can public policy do to address this cycle of despair? How do we balance personal and collective responsibilities in focusing on what has gone wrong?

Don’t miss this emotionally compelling dialogue about a demographic neglected for decades and hear how we can be part of the solution. The event will be moderated by Richard Salomon, Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center.
