Join us for a presentation by Annette Gendler, sharing the backstory of her mother-in-law’s experience as a hidden child in France during the Holocaust and what it took to make this story into a children’s book. This will include the research into the history of hidden Jews in France, the people who made it possible, as well as images and impressions from the family’s trip to the village where the mother-in-law had been hidden.

Annette Gendler is the author of the children's book "Natalie and the Nazi Soldiers," the guide: "How to Write Compelling Stories from Family History," and the memoir "Jumping Over Shadows", the true story of a German-Jewish love that overcame the legacy of the Holocaust. She teaches workshops on memoir writing, and she and her family have been members of Chicago Loop Synagogue for more than 20 years.
