The United Nations' historic report last year on anti-semitism contained a number of recommendations to meet the rising global threat, including the appointment of a senior-level UN “focal point” on anti-semitism. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres followed through and has now tapped Miguel Moratinos, High Representative for the UN Alliance of Civilizations and former Foreign Minister of Spain, to assume that critical portfolio.
